Brooks runs for Rutherford Co. Road superintendent position |
|
Thursday, 02 February 2012 00:00 |
|
Republican Greg Brooks formally announces his bid to become Rutherford County's next Road Superintendent. Greg is a second-generation road builder who has spent the past 30 years in the industry as co-owner and managing partner of B&M Asphalt and hopes to bring his common-sense approach to the county's road department.
Greg and his wife Sandy own a 150-acre cattle farm in Christiana, where they are raising their daughter and attend Southeast Baptist Church.
"I believe I will be a breath of fresh air to the Rutherford County political scene because I've never been a politician or bureaucrat. Instead, I've been a road construction businessman for over 30 years and my conservative values and problem-solving experience will help Rutherford County create the best road system in the state. I know how to work with federal, state and local regulations as well as create and stick to a budget and effectively manage people", Brooks says.

By Jimmy L. Foster, Watertown Gazette Staff
The friendly feud between Watertown High School and Friendship Christian School continues! This time they are dueling for a great cause.
The two high schools will be participating in a competition food drive, beginning Monday, Feb. 6, and ending Wednesday, Feb. 15.
Watertown High School is seeking non-perishable food donations for the drive. As with all food drives, canned foods must still have their labels to be used and distributed.
Foods must not be expired or open. Labeled canned soups, canned meats, boxed pastas, mac’n’cheese, crackers, etc. are just a few of the types of foods that can be accepted for distribution.
All donated items will be distributed locally throughout Wilson County to families in need.
Food donations can be delivered directly to Watertown High School’s office, sent with students, or, on Thursday, Feb. 9, students will be going around town collecting donations. Simply leave the food donations on your front porch for them to be picked up. Donations boxes will also be placed around town at various locations.
