Davina Hollie Greene
Services for Davina Hollie Greene, 30, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 1 at Alexandria First Baptist Church with the Rev. Curt Waggoner officiating. Burial will be at Harpeth Hills Cemetery, Nashville. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until noon at Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria and from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
Ms. Greene died at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville on Tuesday, May 30, 2006. She was a dental assistant and was a member of the Alexandria First Baptist Church.
She was born in Kansas City, Mo. to Calvin and Frances Tarver Cunningham.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather Charles Tarver and uncle Bill Tarver.
Survivors include parents Calvin and Frances Cunningham of Alexandria; brother Greg Stern of Nashville; sister Susan (the Rev. Curt) Wagoner of Alexandria; nephews Zach and Jacob Wagoner of Alexandria; grandmother Bertha Tarver of Nashville; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Alvis Wayne Griffin
Services for Alvis Wayne Griffin, 53, were held Tuesday, May 23 at Hunter Funeral Home. The Rev. Eltis Brown officiated and burial was at Jennings Cemetery in Statesville. Funeral arrangements were handled by Ligon and Bobo Funeral Home.
Mr. Griffin, a resident of the Statesville Community, died Sunday, May 21, 2006 at University Medical Center in Lebanon.
He was born in Wilson County to Chester Wayne and Willie Mai Hancock Griffin. He retired from Parker Seals in Lebanon and was affiliated with Plunketts Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the Statesville Grange.
Survivors includes his wife of 33 years, Donna Poston Griffin; son Kevin (Melissa) Griffin of Statesville; mother-in-law, Alice Poston of Rawls Creek; and sister-in-law, Terri (James) Hailey of Rawls Creek.
Active pallbearers were Roy McClanahan, Al Thornton, Mike Shrum, Michael Stafford, Jimmy Ramsey, Matthew Hamlett and Mark Crook. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Crook, Gene Taylor, Floyd Gaddes and Carey Mitchell.
Hattie Mae Sandlin Herman
Services for Hattie Mae Sandlin Herman, 90, were held at Hunter Funeral Home on May 27. Bo Ford and Bernard Zielsdorf officiated. Burial was at Wilson County Memorial Park.
Mrs. Herman died on May 25, 2006, at University Medical Center in Lebanon. She was a retired garment factory worker and was affiliated with the Baptist church.
She was born in DeKalb County to James R. Sandlin and Edny Hindsley Sandlin.
She was preceded in death by husband Ray “Radio” Herman; daughter Lucille Braswell; granddaughter Jo Ann Braswell and sons-in-law David Ford and Charles Boston.
Survivors include daughters Frankie Boston, Mary Lou Ford and Marie (James) Roberts, all of Lebanon; grandchildren William Dunn, Charles Alan Boston, Irvin Boston, Bo Ford, Jennie Chaffin, Melinda Stockton, Jerry Wayne, Mike Braswell, Andy Braswell, Dow Ray Roberts and Jamie Harris; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; and special friends Mike and Kathy Hunter.
Pallbearers were Charles Alan Boston, Irvin Boston, Tommy Chaffin, Chris Stockton, Mike Braswell, Andy Braswell, Dow Roberts, Russell Carlton, Bo Ford and Shane Harris.
Ollie D. Lasater
Services for Ollie D. Lasater, 94, were held on May 29 at Fall Creek Baptist Church in Norene with the Revs. Billy Trice, Dan Dozier and Carl Price officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery. Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lasater, a homemaker, died on May 26, 2006, at her home in Norene and was affiliated with Fall Creek Baptist Church.
She was born in Wilson County to Aaron Boone Edwards and Viola Moser Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, James L. Lasater, parents Aaron and Viola Edwards, grandson Dayton Lee Beadle, two brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Kat and Ken Beadle of Norene; granddaughter Deanna B. Wood and grandson-in-law Dennis Wood, both of Norene; great-grandsons Matthew and Jacob Wood; sisters-in-law Mamie Edwards and Mildred Edwards; five nieces and nephews; and special friends Beth and Terry Woods, Cody and Dakota Wood and Sandy Mack.
Pallbearers were Bobby Beadle, Clark Beadle, Charles Buchanan, John Buchanan, Thomas Williams, Harold Edwards, Terry Wood, Don Russell, Webb Edwards, Heath Edwards and Jimmy Porterfield. Honorary pallbearers were nieces and the Rachel Sunday School Class.
Jonnie Elizabeth Ragland
Services for Jonnie Elizabeth Ragland will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 1, at Bethlehem Church of Christ with Bro. Kenneth Head officiating. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitiation at the church is at 9:30 a.m. Arrangements by Hunter Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ragland, a homemaker, died at Cedars Health Care in Lebanon on May 30, 2006. She was a graduate of Mt. Juliet High School and a member of Bethlehem Church of Christ.
She was born in Mt. Juliet to Prentice Frazer and Lizzie Kimmons Frazer.
She was preceded in death by husband James Campbell Ragland, daughter Elizabeth Sue Talley and brother Keeling Frazer.
Survivors include daughter Carolyn (Terry) Poston of Watertown; son Jimmy (Betty) Ragland of Sparta; grandchildren Carol Ann (Bart) Griffin of Alexandria, Paul Talley of Lebanon, Tommy Ragland, Shelia (Denny Wayne) Robinson and Nickey (Misty) Ragland, all of Sparta; great-grandchildren Danielle Anderson, Luke Griffin, Katelyn Ragland, Victoria and Miranda Ragland, Rhett Robinson and Grace Beth Griffin; sister Lucille Scheuerman of Lebanon and sister-in-law Mary Lou Rice Frazer of Hermitage.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sue Talley Scholarship Fund.
Mable Sorrells Womack
Services for Mable Sorrells Womack were held at Hunter Funeral Home on May 22 with the Rev. Gerald Hogan officiating. Burial was at Poplar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Womack, a homemaker, died at Greenview Regional Hopsital in Bowling Green, Ky., on May 20, 2006. She was affiliated with the Baptist Church.
Mrs. Womack was born in Watertown to Will Sorrells and Mallie Young Sorrells.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Franklin Womack; sisters Fanny Shehane, Mary Green and Selma Bailiff; brothers Edgar, Georgia, Chester and John D. Sorrells.
Survivors include daughter Kay (Jim) Wilder; sons Ray Franklin (Sherry) Womack and Robert William (Lisa) Womack, all of Morgantown, Ky.; grandchildren Regina, Ray Jr., Angie, Jennifer and Jeremy; great-grandchildren Sarah, Kara and Bailey; sister Lena (J.L.) Reeder of Alexandria; and sister-in-law Gale Sorrells of Lebanon.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
